1) Firstly, you will need  to create the database in Plesk that you would like to import the SQL file to.

2) Open up phpMyAdmin inside Plesk

- Go to Databases

- Select the Database

- Go to Webadmin

3) Once you are in phpMyAdmin, Select the Database on the left hand bar.

4) Go to import

5) Click the ‘Choose’ button to browse the location of the text file

6) Click “Go” to import the SQL file

Here is what you need to do:

• Look at the Hosting page for your plan current feature list
• The multiple domain allowances have increased for all accounts
• The database allowances have in some cases been reduced
• Log a ticket with the Helpdesk asking for a “feature update”
• Include your clientXXXXX Plesk login within the ticket for a fast upgrade
• Your existing data will not be affected and will remain intact

If you provide the correct clientXXXXX ID and your domain name from the outset in your ticket, your upgrade may be completed within an hour. The ticket will be updated once the upgrade is complete.

1. Login to your Plesk Control Panel to gain access to all the features and resources provided with your account.
2. Set up your first email address and start using email services with your domain
3. Start collecting web visitor statistics and monitor visitors activity around your site
4. Launch more sites with multi domain hosting to get the most from your web presence
5. Install and Connect FileZilla FTP to upload files to your personal web space
6. Install a Web Application such as WordPress and get a professional site online straight away

A dedicated server is a server whose resources are entirely dedicated to your site. None of the server resources are shared with any third parties.

Usually the maintenance of a dedicated server is your responsibility however some hosts offer managed dedicated server solutions – at a price.

You will need a dedicated server if your site becomes very busy and the resource requirements are greater than that provided by a shared hosting service.

A shared hosting plan means that you have purchased/leased webspace and resources from a server that is also offering webspace and resources to other non-related clients.

Shared hosting is the cheapest way to get web space and email facilities. Server maintenance and function is the responsibility of the web host.

Alternatives to shared hosting include VPS hosting and Dedicated Server hosting.

To resolve errors uploading to WordPress eg. new themes, please try the following steps:

• In WordPress Settings/Media (or Settings/Miscellaneus depending on your version) change upload folder from “/wp-content/uploads” to “wp-content/uploads” – ie. remove the leading forward slash.
• Set wp-content to 775
• Set wp-content/uploads to 777

That should solve the problem.

You can usually ping your website such as “ping mydomain.com’ which will reveal the IP address of your site and that the server is responding.

Unfortunately this can also be used by hackers to find potentially hackable sites and servers.

For this reason our firewalls block all ICMP PING requests.

Most hosting providers only allow you to host one domain name with each hosting account. Our multi domain hosting accounts allow you to share the resources of your hosting account with other domains.

This in effect means you can host entirely separate websites without purchasing extra web hosting accounts.

For instance. If you have a web hosting account with 5GB webspace and your account supports up to 5 hosted domains, then you can share this resource between your domains by creating 5 totally separate websites with a webspace allowance of 1GB each. You do not need to split the resources equally.

Let’s assume your domain name is domain.com (no such luck, I know!)

# vi /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/vhost.conf

Add the following lines:

<Directory /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs>
php_admin_value open_basedir “/var/www/vhosts/domain.com”
php_admin_flag safe_mode off
</Directory>

Now we need to rebuild the apache configuration:

# /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/websrvmng -u –vhost-name=domain.com

Job done, your open_basdir setting has been moved up one level (from /httpdocs to /) within your domain name sub folder.

This is a common problem so we would like to post the solution for our clients:

1) Ensure that your FTP user is the owner of your WordPress install directory, this is most likely not the problem unless you have your own dedicated server and installed WordPress using root user.

2) Ensure that your WordPress directory has the correct permissions, it should be 755. This is the most probable problem. Change the permissions to 755 and then try the WordPress upgrade again.

If your FTP user is not the owner of your WordPress directory OR your WordPress directory has permissions other than 755, your WordPress install/upgrade will fail with the message “Could not copy file: /var/www/wordpress/wp-activate.php”.

1. Login to the Plesk Control Panel
2. Click on “web hosting”
3. Make sure “php safe mode” is OFF
4. Click on “Web Applications”
5. Click “Install Web Application”
6. Type “wordpress” and press “Search”
7. Click “Install”
8. Agree to the WordPress user license
9. Select “document root” if you dont want wordpress in a sub directory
10. Set the WordPress database password
11. Set the WordPress admin password
12. Enter your email address for admin notifications
13. Enter your wordpress page title (can be changed later)
14. Click “install”
15. WordPress is now installed!

Ok, so there are 15 items in the list – really, it would have taken you longer to read the list than to install WordPress. Install WordPress now and see how easy it is, you can just delete it afterwards – and that’s just as easy as pressing one button!

If you find that clicking on the “Webadmin” button does nothing, then this is the problem, use the guide below to temporarily disable your browser popup blocker.

To disable the Popup blocker in Internet Explorer

1. Open Internet Explorer and select the Tools option.
2. In the window that displays, click on the Internet Options option.
3. Click on the Privacy tab
4. Uncheck Turn on Popup blocker
5. Click on Ok to save your preferences
6. Close the window

To disable the Popup blocker in Firefox

1. Open the Firefox menu and select the Tools option.
2. In the window that displays, click on the Content option.
3. Remove the checkmark from the Block pop-up windows option.
4. Close the window

To disable the Popup blocker in Chrome

1. Open the Chrome Tools menu and select the Options option.
2. In the window that displays, click on the Under the bonnet tab.
3. Click on the Content Settings button
4. Click on the Pop-ups tab
5. Select Allow sites to show pop-ups then press Close
6. Close the windows

To disable the Popup blocker in Safari

1. Open the Safari menu and select the Preferences option.
2. In the window that displays, click on the Security option.
3. Remove the checkmark from the Block pop-up windows option.
4. Close the window

To switch off register globals: php_flag register_globals off

To switch on magic quotes: php_flag magic_quotes_gpc on
