How to setup email on iPhone and iPad
So you have managed to upload your website, setup your POP accounts and enable your web site statistics. Now, how do you check your mail out of the office on your pesky little iPhone or iPad device?
Well this is quite easy - if you follow our step by step guide below you will be receiving emails in no time at all. We will also show you how to match up your webmail folders to that your sent, drafts and trash synchronise fully -without problems.
Step by Step setup:
1. Select the Settings icon on the Home screen, then select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
2. Select Add Account.
3. Select Other.
4. Enter your name, e-mail address and password. Select Next.
5. Select IMAP.
6. Enter your incoming mail server: eg. mail.yourdomain.com
7. Username: eg. username@yourdomain.com
8. Password: should be set already.
9. Enter your outgoing mail server: mail.yourdomain.com (or as provided by your ISP)
10. Select Save.
11. Select Yes when the ‘Cannot Connect Using SSL’ message appears.
12. If presented with a SMTP certifcate warning, select Continue.
13. Select the Mail icon on the Home screen.
14. Select e-mail account to retrieve e-mail messages from your account.
Can’t send e-mail?
1. Follow step 1 above and select your account.
2. Scroll down to Advanced.
3. Under Incoming Settings, set Use SSL to Off.
4. Set Server Port to 110.
Once your IMAP connection is setup, you will need to map your Drafts, Sent and Deleted (Trash) folders to those on your mail server by doing the following:
1. Go to the iPhone Settings
2. Tap on Mail, Contacts, Calendars
3. Tap on the email account you wish to edit
4. Scroll down to Advanced
5. Under the header ‘Mailbox Behaviors’, tap on each of the three mailbox folders and check off the identical box under the ‘On the Server’ header.
You’ll see that you’ve changed the folder from being ‘On My iPhone’ to ‘On the Server’.
