Secure POP3 uses port 995, but IMAP is recommended for normal phone, tablet and webmail use.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"ios-mail-steps\">Add the mailbox on iPhone or iPad<\/h2>\n<div class=\"ukc-organic-flow\">\n<article><strong>1. Open Mail Accounts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Go to Settings, Apps, Mail, Mail Accounts and Add Account. On older system versions, the path may begin Settings, Mail or Settings, Passwords and Accounts.<\/p>\n<\/article>\n<p><span class=\"arrow\" aria-hidden=\"true\">&rarr;<\/span><\/p>\n<article><strong>2. Choose Other<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Enter the complete email address, then choose Add Other Account and Mail Account when asked.<\/p>\n<\/article>\n<p><span class=\"arrow\" aria-hidden=\"true\">&rarr;<\/span><\/p>\n<article><strong>3. Select IMAP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Enter your name, address, password and description. Select IMAP and complete both Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server.<\/p>\n<\/article>\n<p><span class=\"arrow\" aria-hidden=\"true\">&rarr;<\/span><\/p>\n<article><strong>4. Save and test<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After verification, save the account. Send to another address, reply and confirm both messages appear.<\/p>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"ukc-organic-warning\"><strong>Outgoing username and password are not optional for a UKC mailbox.<\/strong> iPhone and iPad may label them optional, but authenticated SMTP requires the full address and mailbox password.<\/aside>\n<h2>Check an account that is already installed<\/h2>\n<p>Open Settings, Apps, Mail, Mail Accounts and select the account. Tap Account to review incoming details. Under Outgoing Mail Server, open SMTP, select the primary server and check the hostname, username, password, SSL setting and port. An old password saved only under SMTP can cause sending to fail while receiving continues to work.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"ios-mail-troubleshooting\">iPhone and iPad troubleshooting<\/h2>\n<div class=\"ukc-organic-grid two\">\n<article class=\"ukc-organic-card\">\n<h3>Cannot verify server identity<\/h3>\n<p>Do not continue past an unexpected certificate. POP is intended for downloading messages and can create an inconsistent multi-device mailbox.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary>What should I enter in Description?<\/summary>\n<p>Use a recognisable label such as Work Email. It is only the name shown on your device.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary>Why can I receive but not send?<\/summary>\n<p>Incoming IMAP and outgoing SMTP are separate connections.
