Choose with confidence
A .shop address can distinguish your store from a separate portfolio, publication or main business website. It works especially well when the brand name remains easy to read alongside the ending. Avoid repeating “shop” unnecessarily in both parts.
A domain is the address, not the shopping software. To take orders, connect an ecommerce platform or hosting with suitable shop software. Check that the platform supports a custom domain and HTTPS, and allow for its separate charges.

.shop launched in 2016 with stages for trademark holders and early registrants before general availability on 26 September. GMO Registry presented it as an address for both online and offline shops. The ending makes retail part of the name, while leaving you free to choose how your products are presented and sold.
