Check Domain Availability

What should you check before buying a domain?

1

Registration period

Check whether the displayed total covers one year, two years or longer. A low first-year offer can be tied to a longer initial term.

2

Renewal price

Compare the normal renewal charge, not only the introductory price. Your domain must be renewed to keep the website and email using it working.

3

VAT and total

UKC domain prices on this page are before VAT. Review the tax and full amount in the basket before payment.

4

Included services

Look beyond the registration fee. DNS control, forwarding, privacy eligibility and a simple website builder can change the practical value.

5

Transfer terms

Check whether a transfer adds registration time and whether the extension uses an authorisation code, registrar lock or a .UK registrar tag.

6

Expiry recovery

Renew on time. Some expired domains enter recovery stages where registry rules, availability and additional fees can apply.

What is included with a UKC domain?

Free website builder

Create and publish a simple website with AI assistance, then update it as needed.

DNS manager

Control records and nameservers, including presets for widely used external services.

Web forwarding

Send visitors to another web address using permanent or temporary forwarding.

Email forwarding

Create addresses at your domain that forward messages to an inbox you already use.

Eligibility and operation can vary by domain extension and registry policy. Paid mailbox hosting, web hosting and other services are separate unless a product or checkout explicitly says they are included.

Do domain transfers cost extra?

.UK domains

Registrar-tag transfer

A .UK transfer normally uses a registrar tag and does not itself add another registration year. The domain keeps its existing expiry date and later renews at the current renewal price.

Many global domains

Authorisation-code transfer

Extensions such as .com commonly add one registration year as part of a paid transfer. The exact transfer price and extension are shown in checkout.

Moving a domain away does not normally require moving the website or email at the same time. Change nameservers or DNS carefully so active services remain connected.

Domain price questions

How much does a domain name cost in the UK?

At UKC, a one-year .uk or .co.uk registration currently costs £9.95 before VAT. Other extensions have different prices. The table above shows selected current registration and renewal figures.

How much does it cost to renew a domain name?

A one-year .uk or .co.uk renewal currently costs £9.95 before VAT. A .com or .net renewal currently costs £14.95 before VAT. Check the current amount in your account or renewal invoice before paying.

Why is the advertised £1 UK domain total £10.95?

The current promotion applies £1 to the first year of a new two-year .uk or .co.uk registration, with the second year charged at £9.95. The two-year total is therefore £10.95 before VAT. Renewal after that term is charged at the current renewal price.

Is web hosting included with a domain?

Not automatically. Every domain includes parking tools such as the simple website builder, DNS management and forwarding. Full web hosting and business mailbox services are separate unless the selected offer explicitly includes them.

Can domain prices change?

Yes. Registry wholesale prices, exchange rates, taxes and promotions can change. UKC shows the current term, price, VAT and total in checkout before payment.

Where can I see the price for my existing domain?

Sign in to the UKC account area and review the domain, renewal notice or invoice. That shows the amount applicable to the extension and renewal due date.
