Connect a UKC domain to Squarespace
Keep the domain registered at UKC and add the exact Squarespace DNS records in UKC DNS Manager
Start the connection inside Squarespace, choose to use a domain you own, then copy every record Squarespace displays into UKC DNS Manager. Do not copy example values from an old guide because verification records can be unique to the site.
What should you check first?
Squarespace site is ready
Add the external domain in Squarespace and keep its DNS settings screen open.
UKC controls the DNS zone
DNS Manager works when the domain uses UKC parking nameservers. If another provider is authoritative, edit records there.
Existing records are saved
Record current A, CNAME, MX, TXT and verification records before changing anything.
Email provider is known
Website records and email records are different. Know which MX and TXT records must remain.
How do you connect the domain?
- 1Open the domain in Squarespace
Use the Domains area, choose a domain you own and enter the full UKC domain.
- 2Open UKC DNS Manager
In My Domains select Domain Tools, then DNS Manager for the same domain.
- 3Add the displayed records
Create the verification CNAME and the website A or CNAME records exactly as Squarespace shows them.
- 4Remove only direct conflicts
If an existing record has the same host and type but a different website value, replace it carefully. Preserve unrelated mail records.
- 5Wait for DNS refresh
Return to Squarespace and refresh its connection check after the new records are visible.
- 6Set the primary domain
Choose the preferred www or non-www version in Squarespace and test HTTPS.
How do you avoid breaking email?
Squarespace connection questions
Why does Squarespace still say the domain is not connected?
Check every host and value against the current Squarespace panel. DNS changes can take time to be visible through all resolvers.
Do I need to transfer the domain?
No. A DNS connection lets UKC remain the registrar while Squarespace hosts the website.
Why did email stop?
An MX or related TXT record may have been removed. Restore the provider’s records from your saved copy or ask support before making further changes.
Should I use nameservers supplied by Squarespace?
Follow the current method shown by Squarespace for your connection. When using UKC DNS Manager, copy the requested records into the UKC zone rather than changing nameservers.
Connect without transferring
Open UKC DNS Manager beside the live Squarespace instructions
Copy current values exactly and preserve email records.
