How to Create an Email Mailbox in Plesk

Plesk Obsidian email

Create the mailbox in Plesk, then connect apps with the assigned server hostname

The email address is also the username. Create a strong, unique password and quota in Plesk. For an email app, use your assigned hosting server, such as ukc10.uk, with IMAP 993 and SMTP 587. This avoids certificate-name warnings.

Test before adding every device

Open webmail

Use webmail for your assigned server and confirm the new username and password work.

Send out

Send to an external address and verify the message leaves the Outbox without an authentication warning.

Reply back

Reply from the external mailbox and confirm IMAP receives the message.

Only then add devices

Use the same verified server, username and security settings in each supported app.

Mailbox questions

Should I use POP or IMAP?

Use IMAP for most customers because messages and folders remain synchronised across devices. POP is mainly for a deliberate download-to-one-device workflow.

Why can I receive but not send?

Enable SMTP authentication, use the full email address as username and use port 587 with STARTTLS or port 465 with implicit TLS.

Where do I change the quota?

Open the mailbox in Plesk and edit its storage allocation, staying within the hosting plan’s total allowance.

Create, test, connect

Verify the mailbox in webmail before configuring apps

That separates account problems from device-specific setup problems.
