Plesk 12 Tutorials: Use Current Plesk Obsidian Help

Current Plesk help

Plesk 12 is obsolete: UKC shared hosting now uses Plesk Obsidian 18

The old Plesk 12 video interface no longer matches current UKC hosting. Use the current steps and official Plesk Obsidian documentation below. Some underlying tasks are similar, but button names, security features and website-building tools have changed.

CURRENT UKCObsidian 18Runs on Ubuntu 24
WEBSITE BUILDERSitejetIncluded with shared hosting

Where can you find current help for common Plesk tasks?

Sign in to Plesk

Open the hosting service in the UKC Client Area and use its Plesk login, which takes you to the assigned server.

Build a website

Open Websites & Domains and choose Sitejet Builder, WordPress or File Manager for the correct domain.

Create email

Use Mail to create a mailbox, then connect with the assigned server hostname and secure IMAP and SMTP settings.

Manage files and FTP

Use File Manager or the FTP credentials shown under Web Hosting Access.

Enable SSL

Use the SSL/TLS controls and Let’s Encrypt option shown for the domain, then test HTTPS.

Back up and restore

Use Backup Manager for account backups. UKC also takes daily server-side backups and can handle restore requests.

What does current UKC Plesk hosting include?

Sitejet Builder

A capable drag-and-drop website builder included with every shared hosting plan.

WordPress Toolkit

Install and manage WordPress with central security and maintenance controls.

Imunify protection

Server security and malware protection operate alongside account-level good practice.

Application installer

Use the Plesk application tools for supported one-click software installs.

What if you still use an old Plesk website builder?

Some long-standing customers may still have a legacy Web Presence Builder site. Keep it running while you plan the move, but consider rebuilding in Sitejet because it is the current, more capable builder included with UKC shared hosting.

Plesk questions

Can I still watch the old videos?

You can use them only for broad historical context. Do not copy settings or navigation paths into current Plesk.

Which Plesk version does UKC use?

UKC shared hosting uses Plesk Obsidian 18 on Ubuntu 24 across the ukc10.uk to ukc13.uk servers.

Where is the official documentation?

Use the Plesk Obsidian Customer’s Guide and the task-specific UKC support articles.

Can support do the task for me?

Support can guide account-specific work and investigate errors. Include the domain, assigned server and the step that failed, but never a password.

Use the current control panel

Open your assigned Plesk Obsidian server from the Client Area

If a guide does not match what you see, send support a screenshot without credentials.

Claim Your Reserved .UK Domain Name

Own an existing .co.uk domain?
Claim your reserved .uk domain now to avoid missing out!

On 10 June 2014, shorter, sharper ‘example.uk’ domain names became available for the first time alongside ‘example.co.uk’, ‘example.org.uk’ and so on. This represents the biggest modification of the UK namespace since it began.

Any unique ‘example.uk’ domain name (e.g. one that does not have an equivalent name already registered as a .co.uk or a .org.uk) is available to register in the normal way.

However, over 10 million existing UK Domain Family customers are being offered the shorter equivalent of their current address, with five years to decide whether they want to use it in addition to, or instead of the domain they already have. In the small proportion of instances where there could be competition – e.g. where one person holds example.co.uk and another holds example.org.uk – the new .uk domain will be offered to the .co.uk registrant.

If you registered a .co.uk domain, before 28th October 2013, then you can claim your reserved .uk domain name simply by visiting the link below.

For more detail on the new .uk domain and release process, please see the .UK information dedicated hub here at dotuklaunch.uk.
