What should you check before registering?
The exact spelling
Read the complete name and extension aloud. A registration normally cannot simply be renamed when a typing mistake is discovered later.
The normal renewal cost
Separate any first-year offer from the price charged in later years, and check whether the displayed amounts include VAT.
Brand and legal conflicts
Search the web, Companies House and relevant trade-mark records. Availability does not prove you have the right to use another party’s name.
The account owner
Register through an account controlled by the business, not solely through an employee, freelancer or supplier who may later leave.

Why might a registration not complete immediately?

Domain registration questions
Do I own a registered domain forever?
No. Registration gives the registrant the right to use the domain for the paid term, subject to the registry’s rules. Renew it on time to keep that right.
Can I change a domain after registering it?
You can change contact details and technical settings, but the registered character string itself cannot simply be renamed. Register the correctly spelt domain separately if necessary.
How quickly will a domain work?
The registration and later DNS changes are separate stages. The domain can be registered before every network and service cache has refreshed.
Can I register a domain for somebody else?
Yes, but use the correct registrant details and make sure the intended owner has appropriate account control and understands renewal responsibility.
Does a domain include a website?
