AOL email forwarding help
Forwarded email can be delayed or filtered when AOL cannot verify the original sender
Email forwarding remains useful, but it adds another delivery step and can affect authentication. If messages forwarded from your UKC domain do not reach AOL Mail, check the AOL Spam folder and obtain the exact rejection or bounce message. For important business email, a mailbox that receives mail directly is usually more dependable than forwarding alone.
What should I check first?
- 1Search AOL Spam
Look for the sender address and subject. If the message is legitimate, mark it as not spam.
- 2Test another sender
Send separate tests from two reputable services. One failed sender does not prove that forwarding is broken.
- 3Read the bounce
If a delivery failure is returned, save the full response, timestamp, recipient and SMTP error code.
- 4Check the forwarding address
Open My Domains and confirm the AOL destination is spelt correctly and remains active.
Why can forwarded messages be filtered?
SPF can change at the forwarding hop
SPF checks the server that hands over the message. A forwarding server is different from the original sender’s server, so the original SPF result may no longer help.
DKIM may protect the message
A valid DKIM signature can survive forwarding if protected parts of the message are not altered. The original sender controls this signature.
DMARC checks alignment
DMARC uses SPF and DKIM results connected to the visible From address. Strict sender policies can make some forwarded messages harder to accept.
Reputation still matters
AOL can filter mail because of sender reputation, message content, user complaints or other signals unrelated to your UKC forwarding rule.
Forwarding cannot repair missing authentication on the original message. This is why one sender may work while another is rejected. Google documents the same general issue in its email forwarding guidance.
Should I use forwarding or a mailbox?
Email forwarding
Included with a parked UKC domain. It sends incoming messages to an inbox you already use and is convenient for low-volume addresses.
Custom Domain Email
A paid mailbox option for parked domains. Messages are received directly and can be read at webmail.ukc.uk or in an email app.
Shared hosting email
UKC shared hosting includes mail services managed through Plesk. Use the assigned ukc10.uk, ukc11.uk, ukc12.uk or ukc13.uk server hostname in email apps.
Which is safer for enquiries?
For orders, leads or support messages that must be retained, use a real mailbox and keep forwarding only as a convenience.
What if mail sent from my domain goes to AOL Spam?
That is a sending problem rather than an incoming forwarding problem. Send through authenticated SMTP and make sure every service that sends as your domain is covered by its SPF, DKIM and DMARC setup. Use an honest From name, avoid purchased lists, remove invalid recipients and make unsubscribing easy for marketing mail.
AOL forwarding questions
Does marking a message as not spam fix everything?
It can help AOL learn your preference, but the sender should still correct authentication or list-quality problems.
Can UKC guarantee delivery to AOL?
No provider can guarantee inbox placement. UKC can check the forwarding rule and use a rejection message to investigate its part of the route.
Is forwarding included with my domain?
Email forwarding is included with UKC parked-domain tools. A stored mailbox is a separate service.
What should I send to support?
Include the domain, forwarding address, sender, recipient, time of the test and the complete bounce or rejection text. Do not send your mailbox password.
Still missing mail?
Give UKC the evidence needed to trace it
Check the destination and Spam folder first, then include the full error from one recent test.
