Before cancelling a service
Back up what you need, separate hosting from domains and submit the correct request
Hosting cancellation and domain renewal are different decisions. Cancelling hosting can remove website files, databases and mailboxes. A domain can remain registered separately, while allowing it to expire can eventually make the name available to someone else.
Choose the outcome you actually want
Cancel hosting
The hosted website, databases and email may be removed. The domain registration is not automatically the same service.
Stop domain renewal
The domain remains yours until its paid term ends, then follows the registry expiry process if it is not renewed or transferred.
Transfer the domain
Move the registration to another provider before expiry and keep the authorisation or registrar-transfer details secure.
Keep the domain only
Cancel hosting but retain the domain, then update DNS or use the included parking tools as required.
What should I save before cancelling hosting?
| Item | Action |
|---|---|
| Website files | Download a complete copy and confirm it opens |
| Databases | Export every database needed by the site |
| Copy messages and contacts from mailboxes that will close | |
| DNS records | Record website, mail and verification entries before moving services |
| Licences and settings | Save configuration and confirm which software can be moved |
Submit the cancellation request
- 1Sign in
Open the UKC Client Area and select the exact hosting or service product.
- 2Open cancellation
Use the cancellation option on that service and read the effective-date choices carefully.
- 3Check linked services
Decide separately what should happen to domains, SSL, email and any add-ons.
- 4Keep confirmation
Retain the submitted request and verify its status in the Client Area.
Cancellation questions
Does cancelling hosting cancel my domain?
Not automatically. They are normally separate services. Review the domain’s renewal setting and expiry date independently.
Can deleted hosting data be restored?
A restore may not be available after termination. Download and verify your own backups before the effective cancellation date.
Can I cancel by simply not paying?
Use the formal cancellation route so the requested service and timing are clear. Unpaid invoices do not replace a cancellation request.
