Chrome pop-up settings
Allow pop-ups only for the trusted website that needs them instead of disabling Chrome’s protection everywhere
When Chrome blocks a legitimate window, select the blocked-pop-up icon in the address bar and choose to allow pop-ups and redirects for that site. Refresh the page and repeat the action. Leave the default blocker on for other websites.
How do you allow pop-ups for one site on a computer?
- 1Open the page again
Use the trusted site and repeat the action that should open a window.
- 2Select Pop-up blocked
Choose the blocked-pop-up icon at the right of Chrome’s address bar.
- 3Allow this site
Select Always allow pop-ups and redirects from the displayed site, then choose Done.
- 4Refresh and retry
Reload the page and repeat the original action.

What are the mobile steps?
Android
When a trusted page reports a blocked pop-up, use the Always show option. To change the general setting, open Chrome Settings, Permissions, then Pop-ups and redirects.
iPhone or iPad
Open Chrome Settings, Content settings, then Block pop-ups. For a trusted page that was blocked, use Always show when Chrome presents it.
How do you remove a site’s pop-up permission?
Open the site, select the icon to the left of its address, open Site settings and return Pop-ups and redirects to Block or Reset. You can also remove the site from the allowed list in Chrome’s full Site settings.

Why does the window still not open?
Refresh after changing permission. Then check whether an extension, managed-device policy or a second browser setting is blocking it.
Are pop-ups and notifications the same?
No. Notifications can appear outside the page even when pop-ups are blocked. Manage them separately in Site settings.
Should I turn off the blocker everywhere?
No. Allow only the trusted site that needs the feature, then remove the permission when it is no longer required.
Why can I not change the setting?
A work or school administrator can enforce Chrome policies. Ask the organisation that manages the device.

Grant the smallest permission needed for the trusted site
Once the task works, leave other websites blocked and review the exception later.
