How to Change DNS A, MX, CNAME and TXT Records

DNS management

Change only the records supplied by the service you are connecting

DNS controls where your website and email are delivered. Record the existing values first and avoid replacing nameservers when a small record change is all that is required.

Choose the correct DNS manager

UKC parked domain

Open My Domains, choose the domain and use DNS Manager in the domain control centre.

Shared hosting domain

Open Plesk, select Websites and Domains, then DNS Settings for the domain.

Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace

Use the current records shown in the provider admin centre. Do not copy values from an unrelated guide or another domain, because verification and DKIM values can be domain-specific.

How to Check UKC Email in a Web Browser

UKC webmail login

Use webmail.ukc.uk for Custom Domain Email, or the webmail address for your assigned hosting server

Custom Domain Email mailboxes use webmail.ukc.uk. Shared hosting mailboxes use the webmail route for their assigned server, such as webmail.ukc10.uk through webmail.ukc13.uk. Sign in with the complete email address and mailbox password.

How do you open the correct webmail?

Follow the sequence and stop before any step that does not match the service shown in your UKC account.

    Identify the mailbox product

    Custom Domain Email is a paid add-on on the parked-domain platform. Shared hosting mailboxes are created inside Plesk.

    Open the matching webmail address

    Use webmail.ukc.uk for Custom Domain Email. For shared hosting use the webmail address linked from Plesk or the assigned server.

    Enter the mailbox login

    The username is the complete email address. Use its mailbox password, not the Client Area or Plesk account password.

    Test a message both ways

    Send a short message to another address, reply to it and confirm Inbox and Sent folders update.

Which webmail address should you use?

The correct address depends on where the mailbox itself is hosted, not where the domain was registered.

Custom Domain Email

Use webmail.ukc.uk. This mailbox lives on the UKC parking and domain-tools platform.

Shared hosting mailbox

Use the webmail link in Plesk or the assigned server route, such as webmail.ukc10.uk to webmail.ukc13.uk.

Forwarding address

Forwarding is not a mailbox and has no webmail login. Read the message in the destination inbox.

Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace

Use the webmail service supplied by Microsoft or Google because UKC DNS does not host those mailbox contents.

Common questions

Why does my Client Area password fail?

A mailbox has its own password. Use the complete email address and that mailbox password.

Can I use webmail.ukc.uk for shared hosting?

Use the assigned hosting server route for a Plesk mailbox. webmail.ukc.uk is standardised for Custom Domain Email.

Why is there no old AtMail screen?

AtMail is no longer the current UKC webmail route. Current services use the addresses described in this guide.

What should I tell support?

Give the email address, service type, webmail URL and exact error, but never the password.

Need browser access?

Start with the webmail address for the mailbox service

If login fails, confirm the mailbox exists and reset its password through the appropriate account controls.

What do I put for both incoming and outgoing mail server?

For both incoming and outgoing mail server put mail.yourdomain.com Some ISP’s do not keep port 587 open which is required if you enter mail.yourdomain.com for your outgoing mail server.

Many ISP’s require you to use their outgoing mail server. We recommend that you contact your ISP and ask them what you should enter in the space provided for the outgoing mail server.
