UKC nameserver settings
Use ns.ukc.uk and ns2.ukc.uk for UKC parked-domain tools
These nameservers connect a domain to UKC Domain Website Builder, DNS Manager and forwarding tools. Shared hosting uses the exact nameservers in the hosting welcome email instead. The older ns.microlite1.com and ns2.microlite1.com names remain supported for existing domains.
How do you choose the correct UKC nameservers?
Start with the service that should answer for the domain. Parked-domain tools and shared hosting use different DNS platforms.
- 1Identify the active service
Use parking nameservers only for a domain managed by the UKC parked-domain platform. A hosted subscription has server-specific values.
- 2Copy the exact pair
For parking use ns.ukc.uk and ns2.ukc.uk. For hosting copy both nameservers from the service welcome email.
- 3Review existing DNS
Record A, AAAA, CNAME, MX and TXT records before changing delegation. Recreate required third-party records on the destination platform.
- 4Change once and verify
Save the pair, then check website, email and verification records as caches refresh. Do not repeatedly switch nameservers.
Which nameservers apply to each service?
The nameservers determine where the live DNS zone is managed. They do not move website files or mailbox contents.
Parked UKC domain
Use ns.ukc.uk and ns2.ukc.uk for the included Domain Website Builder, DNS Manager and forwarding controls.
Shared hosting
Use the server-specific pair shown in the hosting welcome email. Do not guess from the domain name.
Third-party service
Use that provider’s delegation only if it should control the complete DNS zone, or keep UKC DNS and add its required records.
Legacy Microlite parking
Existing ns.microlite1.com and ns2.microlite1.com delegation still reaches the same parking service and does not need an urgent change.
| Service | Nameservers |
|---|---|
| UKC parked domain | ns.ukc.uk and ns2.ukc.uk |
| UKC shared hosting | Exact assigned pair from the welcome email |
| Legacy parking | ns.microlite1.com and ns2.microlite1.com remain supported |
UKC nameserver questions
Should every UKC domain use ns.ukc.uk?
No. Use them for the parked-domain platform. A hosted domain normally uses the assigned hosting nameservers.
Must I replace Microlite nameservers now?
No. They remain synonymous with the current UKC parking nameservers for the many domains that still use them.
How quickly will a change work?
Different resolvers keep cached delegation and DNS records for varying periods. Some visitors can see the old route while others see the new one.
Can UKC tell me the assigned hosting values?
Yes. Check the hosting welcome email first, then ask support with the service or domain. Never send a password.
Before changing delegation
Open the correct domain and record the current DNS
Use the parking pair only when UKC parked-domain tools should control the live zone.
