EURid accepts an EU, Icelandic, Liechtenstein or Norwegian citizen, a resident of one of those countries, or an organisation established there. Choose the registrant type that describes the legal holder and provide accurate details that can be verified.
Who can register a .eu domain?
Eligible citizen
A citizen of an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway can qualify regardless of where they live.
Eligible resident
A person who is not a citizen can qualify when resident in an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway.
Eligible undertaking
A business or other undertaking established in one of the eligible countries can register in its legal name.
Eligible organisation
An organisation established in one of the eligible countries can qualify without being a commercial business.

What happens if EURid asks for validation?
Follow the request promptly and submit documents through the official process. The required evidence depends on whether eligibility comes from citizenship, residence or an established organisation. Check that names and addresses match the registration record before sending anything.
.eu registration questions
Can a UK citizen register .eu after Brexit?
UK citizenship or residence alone is not an eligible basis. A UK applicant may still qualify through eligible EU, Icelandic, Liechtenstein or Norwegian citizenship, residence or establishment.
Does domain availability prove eligibility?
No. Availability only means the name is not currently registered. The registrant must still meet EURid rules.
Can a company register the domain for an employee?
The registration should identify the intended legal holder. If the company is the holder, its establishment must meet the eligibility rules.
